Management of Medical Wastes in Public Hospitals: A Case Study

Background: Medical wastes are one of the health and environmental challenges across globe. Also, hospitals most important medical waste generators. Methods: In this study, quantity composition solid generated in 10 public city Tehran were investigated. classified into four groups one-year average was considered. Results: The results showed that range generation from 107.5 to 2508 kg/day. Considering account hospital beds, production 3.53 kg/bed/day. Moreover, 67.45% studied included common wastes, but infectious sharp accounted for 31.65% wastes.
